The Little Things That Help My Tattoo Business Grow

•

Sometimes, it’s not the big things but the little things clients do that make the biggest difference in growing a small business. ❤️

As a tattoo artist at Wildwood Tattoos in Manchester, Connecticut, I spend a lot of time drawing, tattooing, answering inquiries, and trying to keep up with all the other things that come with running a small business. And, of course, there’s Instagram. The never-ending content monster that apparently needs to be fed if you want anyone to see your work. 😅

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with social media. Some days, trying to get my work seen feels like pulling teeth. But the more time I spend in this industry, the more I realize that some of the most meaningful ways my business grows have very little to do with what I post online.

It’s the little things you guys do that make a real difference.

Word of Mouth Still Matters

Honestly, bragging about your new tattoo to your friends and family probably does more for my business than any social media post ever could.

When you show someone your new tattoo, tell them about your experience, or recommend me when a friend mentions they’re thinking about getting tattooed, you’re helping someone discover my work in a way that feels personal.

There’s something different about hearing a recommendation from someone you know. It gives people a chance to see the work, ask questions, and hear what it’s actually like to work with an artist.

And for someone who might be getting their first tattoo, or working with a new artist for the first time, that personal recommendation can make the whole process feel a little less intimidating.

So, if you’ve ever shown off a tattoo I’ve done for you, sent a friend my way, or talked about your experience at Wildwood Tattoos, thank you. You might not think much of it, but it really does help.

The Little Things You Do Online Add Up, Too

Even though social media can be frustrating, it does help new people discover my work. The tricky part is getting that work in front of the right people.

That’s where you come in.

Sharing a post, leaving a comment, sending a design to a friend who might love it, or interacting with my latest flash designs can help more people see what I’m creating.

You don’t have to do all of these things, and I’m certainly not asking anyone to spend their day managing my Instagram account for me. But if something catches your eye, sharing it or passing it along to someone who might be interested is genuinely helpful.

The same goes for showing off your new tattoo and tagging me when you post it. I love seeing healed tattoos and getting to see how a piece settles in after the appointment!

Why Google Reviews Make Such a Big Difference

One of the most helpful things you can do if you’ve had a good experience getting tattooed with me is leave a Google review.

I know, I know. Asking people to leave reviews isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. We’re all busy, and it’s easy to forget about something like that once you’ve left your appointment and gotten back to everyday life.

But reviews really do help.

When someone searches for a tattoo artist in Manchester, CT, they’re often trying to figure out where to go, who they can trust, and whether an artist might be a good fit for the tattoo they have in mind.

Seeing reviews from people who have already had that experience can help answer some of those questions. Reviews can also contribute to how a business appears in local search results, making them a valuable part of helping new clients discover a small business.

If you’ve gotten a tattoo from me and enjoyed the experience, take a couple of minutes and go leave a review on the Wildwood Tattoos Google page.

You can mention whatever stood out to you, whether it was the design process, the atmosphere, the conversation, or how your tattoo turned out. There’s no need to write a novel. Just sharing your honest experience is plenty.

Every Little Bit Helps Me Keep Doing What I Love

Starting a career in tattooing has been a huge learning experience. There’s the creative side, which is what initially drew me to this work, but there’s also the business side, which comes with a whole different set of challenges.

I’m still learning, still drawing, still figuring things out, and still trying to find my way through the whole work-life balance thing. I’m pretty convinced that balance doesn’t actually exist during certain phases of life. 😂

But getting to create tattoos with and for other people makes all of those ups and downs worthwhile.

Every person who books a tattoo, trusts me with an idea, recommends me to a friend, shares my work, or takes a few minutes to leave a review helps me continue building this career.

Those things might feel small from your side, but they add up to something pretty significant on mine.

So, whether you’ve been tattooed by me once or have been back for multiple pieces, thank you for being part of this journey. I appreciate every bit of support more than you probably realize. 🖤

One Last Thing: What Do You Want to See More Of?

Since you’re here, I’d love to know what you’d like to see more of!

Would you like more tattoo designs and flash? Behind-the-scenes looks at the tattoo process? Sketchbook pages and works in progress? More of the chaos that comes with being a tattoo artist and a working mom?

I’m always drawing, planning new designs, and trying different things, so I’d love to hear what interests you.

You can leave a comment on my latest Instagram post or reach out directly. Your feedback helps me figure out what to share, and I genuinely enjoy hearing from you.

And if you’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo, you can always browse my work or send in a request to get the conversation started.
